Welcome to the combined bus and boat tour from Mikkeli Harbor to the Astuvansalmi rock paintings.
This full-day trip takes place on Sunday, July 13th, July 27th, and August 3rd. Hop on board and enjoy the beautiful nature of Lake Saimaa. The return journey from Ristiina to Mikkeli is by chartered bus.The boat departs from Mikkeli Harbor and cruises for about 4 hours through the stunning lake scenery of Saimaa to the Astuvansalmi rock paintings, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the Saimaa experience. After visiting the rock paintings, we will stop by the Varkaantaipale summer restaurant, where a bus will take you back to Mikkeli.

The ticket price includes a cruise from Mikkeli harbor to the Astuvansalmi rock paintings and return transportation to Mikkeli by charter bus.

Onboard Services:
The M/S Aino is registered for 90 passengers, with travel spaces across three decks:
Lower deck: A cool salon below the waterline, ideal for warm weather, with table seating and onboard restrooms.
Middle deck: A café and bar, offering alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, coffee, and pastries. Buffet-style dining can also be arranged. The ship is licensed to serve alcohol.
Upper deck (Sun Deck): Open-air seating with a panoramic lake view. A bar is also available on this deck when needed.
Tips for the Trip:
The boat departs from Mikkeli Harbor. You can reach the harbor by walking from the city center across the pedestrian bridge over the railway tracks. It's about a 400-meter walk.

The Astuvansalmi Experience is a mobile-based tour located at the Astuvansalmi rock paintings in Ristiina, Mikkeli. Videos in the SALMI AR app illustrate what the landscape of Astuva may have looked like over thousands of years and how the paintings might have been created. The app also allows you to take a closer look at the various pictorial symbols.
